How’s My Driving? - Safe Driving Blog Tips
The insurance firm ingenie is calling schools to teach the Highway Code after results of online quiz testing participant’s basic knowledge of road rules and signs showed that 82% failed to recognise national road safety signs.
Since the results of the findings, ingenie is calling for schools to introduce the Highway Code as part of the teaching syllabus to under-17s along with hazard perception and driving theory. The idea being that they will have a greater understanding of the rules of the road from an early age, improving road safety for future generations.
Richard King, ingenie CEO, said: “It’s worrying that even experienced drivers aren’t showing basic Highway Code knowledge. If schools introduce the Highway Code and hazard perception to pupils before they even reach driving age, we can build an entire generation of better, safer drivers.”
